Proposed lighting changes to Daffin Park's play field.
At the request of our youth sports organizations, the City is looking to install additional lighting on the lawn area at Daffin Park to allow the practice fields to be utilized during the fall and winter months when sunlight is limited.
- The current design will add three athletic field light poles and provide a maximum lighting level of 25ft candle for recreational practices and training only. (photometric study attached)
- The light fixtures will face away from the homes on Washington Ave, and the lighting levels at the abutting properties will meet City Code.
- The lighting system consists of LED technology with glare control features that will be focused on the playing surface, resulting in minimal light spillage beyond the borders of the field. (A photo of the manufacturer fixtures and comparable projects are attached)
The following programming guidelines will also be implemented to reduce any significant impact to the community:
- Field lights will only be operational when use permits are issued by the City.
- No activity is authorized after the park closes. (Currently 9pm)
- No official games will be permitted under the lights.
